Provenance
Provenance:Property from the Estate of Dr. Caroline W. Brown, Lombard, Illinois.Note: The poem for Francis George reads, "Lovely Brother thou art sleeping/ In the dark and silent tomb!/ Feebly Brother! are we weeping/ Over thy sad, untimely doom!/ Death hath laid thee with his number/ Calmly laid thee down to rest;/ Softly, sweetly be the slumber,/ Pillow on thy Mother's breast!/ Like the morning star that shineth,/ Came thy spirit brightly forth/ like the morning star declinith/ Fed thy spirit from the Earth!/ Yes, thou art gone to other regions/ where no bitter tear is shed;/ Join'd to bright, angelic legions/ With seraphic (?) spirits wed!/ But fair virtue's deeds have round thee/ Wreath'd a pure, untarnished name/ And with rich reward hath given (?) thee/ Higher than all earthly fame!/ PCL."The poem beneath Mary Brooks is partially legible.
